Comparison Lacrosse Davis
In my post New Davis Sensor I wrote about my concerns regarding the probably too small radiation shield of my sensors. Especially in the afternoon the temperature seemed to be by far to high. Since a couple of days I collect data at the same spot with Davis sensors.
It is very obvious that the larger shield pays off. The blue plot is the Davis, I forgot that caption.
When the sun does not hit the sensors or during nighttimes the difference is very small. That also means that both sensors are very well calibrated, even the very cheap Technoline/Lacrosse product! Great! But as soon the sun hits them the held back heat causes bad measures that do not reflect the outside temperature.
On the other side it is good to know that the Technoline sensors are good enough for environments that are not affected by sunlight. I will use it for example in my basement.
Same goes for humidity that is lower measured by the Technoline sensor.
But as I have written before, the value for the money is definitely a go for the Technoline!
